Zooplankton diversity in Adan Dam District Washim, Maharashtra, India
Keywords:
Zooplankton, Adan DamAbstract
Zooplankton is the important Component of aquatic fauna which serves as a major component of aquatic food chain. It also maintains proper equilibrium between biotic and abiotic components of the aquatic ecosystem. Zooplankton diversity and their ecology greatly contribute to as understanding of the basic nature and general economy of aquatic habitats. Zooplanktons are microorganisms that share animal-like features. Some are as large as 5 mm long and the smallest are just one thousandth of this size. They actively and freely float, drift or Swim in the water. The presence and dominance of zooplankton species played a very significant role in the functioning of freshwater ecosystem. During the analysis we recorded 10 species in Rotifera are as Ascomoypha Saltans, Brachionus Bidentata, Brachionus Caudata, Filihla Longiseta, Filinia Opoliensis,Gastropus Stylifer, Keratiella Classa, Keratella Tropica, Lecane Species, Monostyla Bulla. Rotifera is a phylum within the animal kingdom, specifically in the field of zoology. Rotifera, commonly referred to as rotifers, are microscopic, multicellular organisms found in freshwater environments, as well as in moist soil and marine habitats.
