Impact of mercuric chloride and aluminum sulfate on gills of freshwater catfish, Clarias batrachus
Keywords:
Mercuric chloride, Aluminum sulfate, Clarias batrachus, GillsAbstract
The aquatic environment is continuously being contaminated with toxic chemicals like industrial waste, agricultural use and domestic activities. In India use of chemicals in agricultural sectors and heavy metals are discharge from industrial waste they runoff along the water and enters the lakes and ponds that is supplied by rivers. Industrial effluent containing heavy metals dissolve and reach to water body, cause damage to tissue and finally death of aquatic animals. Respiratory system is one of important system for each and every living organism. Industrial effluents from industrial area may easily find their way into the natural water surfaces and adversely affect the quality of water surfaces and creates hazards for aquatic life resulting in serious damage to non-target species, including fishes, crabs etc.
