Arsenic exposure induced Histopathological changes in different Tissues of Male Albino rats
Keywords:

Long term Arsenic exposure induced Histopathological changes in different Tissues of Male Albino rats.Normal hepatocytes are observed with prominent nuclei. Cytoplasm, Bile duct, Portal vein and Central vein are normal. Bile duct and clear sinusoidal spaces are observed. Histopathological studies helps in detecting the extent of tissue and organ damage under arsenic stress conditions. Histopathology helps in diagnosing the cytoarchitectural changes occurred in the animal under chemical induced toxic stress. Extent of tissue damage depends upon the degree of exposure, type of toxicant, concentration of toxicant and also varies among different animal models. Studies of Hossain, 2012b showed apoptotic and necrotic cells along with structural alterations, fatty infiltration, hemosider in granules, cytoplasmic vacuolation and fibrous bodies in heart, liver and intestine. In the present study arsenic treatment for a period of 15, 30 and 45 days showed changes in architecture and altered the functional activity. The test tissues (Liver, Kidney, Testis, Lung, Heart and Small intestine) used in the present study almost showed apoptotic and necrotic changes, inflammatory cells infiltration, cytoplasmic vacuolation and cell death due to toxic stress. The changes in tissues are prominent in 45 days of treatment when compared to 15 and 30 days.
