Abstract

Diabetes mellitus, a prevalent metabolic disorder, results from insufficient insulin or insulin resistance, primarily manifesting as Type 2 diabetes in India. This study surveyed patients across Assam, India, assessing age, BMI, diet, exercise, and medication use. Results showed a higher prevalence in individuals over 50 and those with obesity, linking diabetes risk to family history, poor lifestyle, and socio-economic factors. Findings align with existing literature, highlighting the rising trend of diabetes in India driven by age, genetics, and lifestyle. The study emphasizes the need for targeted prevention and management strategies to mitigate diabetes-related complications.
