Abstract

Cicer arietinum L. is a cash crop in Indian subcontinent. It was treated to check the effect on germination and growth with classical vocal music of ‘Kirana’ and ‘Jaipur’ Gharana legends viz. Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur respectively. The ‘Morning’, ‘Afternoon’, ‘Evening’ and ‘Night’ time ragas were selected. The Evening raga (Multani) (of both Gharana) has shown strong and more positive effect on the germination and growth of Cicer sp. The treatment of morning raga (‘Vibhas’) of Jaipur style is not suited for germination whereas same of Kirana style also shown minimum germination with respect to control.
