A In-vitro Chromosomal Aberration Test Induced by Oleanolic Acid Extracted from Root of latana camara in V79 Chinese hamster Lung Cell Line
Keywords:
HPLC, FTIR, Clastogenic, S9, CytotoxicityAbstract
This study was performed in V79 Chinese hamster lung cell line to check the potential of oleanolic acid for chromosomal aberration effects. Oleanolic acid has medicinal properties and it is used in the treatment of various diseased. Oleanolic acid extracted from roots of Lantana Camara by the extraction and isolation process by HPLC, DSC, FTIR techniques. V79 Chinese hamster cell line is frequently used for in-vitro chromosomal aberration test. At the high dose of oleanolic acid decrease in the cell viability (cytotoxicity) was observed. Non cytotoxic dose 3.0, 1.5, 0.75 and 0.375 mg/mL was selected for the chromosomal aberration test. Short term and long term exposure was performed with and without S9 metabolic activation. There was no clastogenic effects was observed in the treated V79 Chinese hamster cell line with oleanolic acid treated at dose level of 3.0, 1.5, 0.75 and 0.375 mg/mL.
