Abstract

The suppression of women has historical roots in patriarchal social systems where physical power dominated. Women were confined to households and denied social, economic, and political justice. Despite progress through education, rights, and constitutional safeguards, challenges like male chauvinism, gender bias, and dowry persist. While women are excelling in diverse fields, social mindsets remain barriers. The dowry system worsens gender inequality, causing violence and exploitation. Legal reforms, education, and societal awakening are essential for true empowerment and gender equality.
