Guidelines on Laser Hair Removal in a Paediatric Population – Experience from a UK NHS Hospital
Abstract
Laser hair removal (LHR) is a vital intervention for paediatric patients suffering from conditions such as hypertrichosis, hirsutism, pilonidal disease, and other related disorders. These conditions can lead to physical discomfort, skin irritation, and psychological distress. This paper provides guidelines and insights based on the experience at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, a UK NHS Centre of Excellence, where LHR has been offered since 2017. The findings support the efficacy of LHR in managing unwanted hair growth and improving quality of life in this population.
