The Efficacy of Hyptis genus : A Review
Keywords:
Hyptis sp, Extract, Phytochemicals, Anti-microbial effect, Insect-pest managementAbstract
Hyptis is a genus of flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae, have important source of bio-active vital nutrients: proteins, carbohydrates, fats, fibre and the phytochemicals: essential oils, flavonoids, phenols, saponins, terpenes and sterols. These are used worldwide for the control of insect pests of crop plants, pests of domestic animals and human beings, anti-microbial, anticancer and insecticidal activities. The main aim is to review the phyto-chemical composition, medicinal uses and pharmacological properties of Hyptis.
